Great Programming

My background: I am in the Army, and have been “working out” in some form or another for over a decade, I am familiar with fitness regimens. I have never really focused on building my physique, but always worked on the things that matter for a Soldier; running, rucking, strength.

I Followed Jay’s functional method almost completed by the book for the 8 weeks (added a few sprint workouts) and I saw some awesome results. His programming is fun, and the workouts consistently leave you feeling like you did good work, but not utterly smoked. I started seeing some results after the first month, then was able to see the full picture after week 8 just in time for a vacation. If you’re on the fence about purchasing this program, don’t be. Buy it. Follow it. And see the results for yourself. To Jay, thanks for the program brother, looking forward to trying out some more.

Side note: I did not follow the diet Jay graciously gives for free with this program. I did more of a keto-ish type of diet that I normally follow, along with intermittent fasting.

Strength, Mobility and Performance

Just completed The Functional Method 8 week program and I’m totally amazed at the results! My biggest concern starting this program was whether or not my body would be able to handle the volume. My knees have always been pretty bad and I recently recovered from a minor knee injury that had stopped me from training legs with the same intensity I used to enjoy. Happy to say my knees have never felt stronger, the specific mobility training as well as the intelligently programmed low intensity days made it easy to stay healthy. The workouts are second to none, this program showed me how to develop true strength at a high intensity with a well rounded approach. I have gotten stronger top to bottom and really enjoyed getting out of my comfort zone with a different style of training! I highly recommend this to everyone!!!

No Distractions, No Bullshit, Just Business.

This is how it should be done. This program definitely forces you to get out of your comfort zone. At the end of every week I was sore from pushing myself to exhaustion. It’s so important to do exactly what is instructed in the program. If not you won’t get your desired results. Overall I give this program 5 stars, because it works.

I recently finished The Functional Method program and I thought it was fantastic! I definitely feel stronger as a whole, than I have in a long time…this program really does help in a lot of areas that I was weaker in, and did not realize it. It puts the whole body to the test, and has many different exercises that were new to me which made it a lot of fun!

Excellent Full-Body Strength Program

I decided to compete in Spartan races this year (2018) and went looking for something that would help build my overall strength without adding heavy bulk. The Functional Method did that and more. I know for certain that upon completing the 8 weeks that I was so much stronger and prepared for the races that if I just did standard training. I’ve kept JTM’s workouts as part of my weekly programs, and they’re still challenging me each time. Can’t recommend this enough.

SO MUCH FUN. Simple As That.

I started following Jay on Instagram because I loved his fresh perspective on workouts. It’s incredibly easy to become bored at the gym. Bench press this, squat that. I needed something to look forward to at the gym.

Jay’s Functional Method provided exactly that. A breath of fresh air. This program provides a great balance of strength, explosiveness and stability.

I am training for a Spartan Sprint race in July. Jay’s leg days and push/pull days have been a great foundation for the race.

After the race, I’m going to do this program again!

Amazing and Eye Opening!!

This program was really great! I thought I knew the gym but this really opened my eye to knew ways in which to push my body. This program has also really taught me a lot about how to be in control of my body and to grow in a much healthier way than straight up lift as much as I can. I would really recommend this even if you think you know a ton about the gym. May start off easy but give it a week and you’ll start to feel it. Trust me.

This past weekend I did murph RX’d, I took about a half hour off my time. I believe this is due to the increased strength in isometrics from following your programming, especially the core/trunk movements.

I started following JMT on Instagram, constantly looking at his exercises and duplicating it at the gym. For a guy who has played soccer all his life, before rupturing my ACL/Meniscus and also needed a micro-fracture repair, I did not know what to do. I can’t play, right leg is weak, not fast or strong enough. The functional method gave me a platform to build muscles, get stronger and faster. I have added 7 pounds of muscle, lost about 6% body fat, and yes I do have a 6 pack in 8 weeks. The program is amazing! Just don’t cut corners, perform it exactly the same, you’ll get the result you are looking for.

Congratulations on the functional method program. It’s the best program that I have ever followed. It’s taken working out from being a chore to something I look forward too. Its definitely made me stronger especially my core, with all the unilateral exercises, something I haven’t done enough of. I found the gymnastic parts and the ordinary exercises which you have tweaked kept the program exciting. I liked the way the program is structured, especially having the warm ups and stretching as part of the program, because that was something I used to do half arsed. Bring on functional method 2.

EXCELLENT Insight Into Functional Training Methods

I have been training for years, just doing your conventional bodybuilding workout routine. But after a few years of this, its got boring, very fast. Wasn’t sticking to it religiously as it was the same shit week in week out and I didn’t know how to mix it up much as exercises were bland and boring. I had a look online for a more functional way of training as I didn’t know where to start, and stumbled across JT’s page and glanced over his course. Thought what the hell. Give it a shot. Wow man. From the get go it was challenging and fun and no day was the same. Felt stronger, fitter and definitely more functional 2/3 weeks in. Now end of week 8 all my compound lifts have improved due to strengthening other areas I used to neglect. Deadlift is 150kg, Squat 110kg, OH Press 70kg, Bench 100kg etc, as well as leaned some olympic movements which Im now progressing in. Would highly recommend his course for someone looking to get stronger and more functional and have fun doing it. Plus the guy is very quick at responding to questions through email and on instagram. Helpful and supportive throughout. Now I am done. Ive complied all my favourite days and made a 2 week cycle training program and gonna be hitting it hard to go along with my BJJ. Cheers man, you’ve improved my game and the way I train.

Worth Every $ Spent

Loved the program. I finished it a couple of weeks ago, switched training to more conditioning and going back through it again now. Workouts were solid. Enjoyed the mix of barbells, dumbbells, and kB.

I would have liked to have seen more of a variety on the warm ups and mobility sections. Just kind of seemed like a cookie cutter process. Not the end of the world since I found various mobility exercises and warm up programs from your IG page.

Thank you Jay for sharing that amazing content, I have taken the awakening training before with Marcus Filly but didn’t feel like going for the next course,

Here it’s different! from your instagram account to your varaiety of moves and workouts I really enjoyed it and I feel like I have a mission to do eveyday at the gym.

A small comment if you may allow me please, I would love if you put more variety in the warm ups and the Stretching… you know some times it becomes really the same and boring,

I went quickly through the TFM 2.0 and it seems really intresting with low reps which means high weights!! 🙂 I would love to see some Calisthenics Technics like some muscle ups and Human flags.

Much Needed Structure

I made a ton of progress after completing 1.0. I still did CrossFit occasionally while keeping to the program, but prioritized the workouts in 1.0. TFM 1.0 forced me to attack some weaknesses I didn’t even realize I had, and then surprisingly even after neglecting the Olympic lifts I set a new 1 rm for both clean and snatch, which I think has to do with all the accessory work and just simply putting the work in through 1.0. I was also surprised 1.0 got me more cut up than I thought. It’s a challenging and great program on it’s own, and a great way to take a break from the sometimes reckless workouts in CrossFit and focus on form, technique, and building strength instead.

Amazing Program!!

I started The Functional Method 1.0 as a way to get back into the gym after having MCL surgery. Not only did the workouts keep me motivated to go to the gym, the movements helped my recovery tremendously. My Take On 1.0 Method

I thought it was a good balance of strength, cardio and mobility workouts. Over past 8 weeks I have improved in many areas. I feel stronger and more durable (knees, hips and ankles). First time I did burpee dead-lifts, I was so impressed with how my body responded to it. What i like most about it is that you work major muscles few times a week and allows you to recover quicker after your tough days. I am excited for 2.0 and by looking at it, I can see it involves more cardio which I need.
